At the table

Jack was a rabbit
he hid in a whole
because of his schizophrenia
he had no control
the hounds were around
the traps were all set
but they would not get
Jack just yet

Alice was a girl
she lived in a wonderland
of uppers and downers and things
she no longer understands
her world is full of nightmares
she just longs to escape
but hope is not yet offered
on her Tea party plate

Spy man eats at my table
he talks to his controls
he is watching all the channels
for who can gain his soul
his silver box has waves
we cannot really see
for he does not live
in our reality

Lisa is a daughter
so lost and all alone
fighting all her fears
so far away from home
she stands in line again
awaiting her next meal
she's living in a nightmare
she wishes wasn't real

Andy has been travelling
he's come from far away
he has no place to go
but he doesn't plan to stay
hungry and alone
he's glad to have this plate
for he knows he must get going
for the hour is getting late

welcome to our wonderland
soup kitchen forty four
one can never know, who will
greet you at the door
just grab a bowl , a paper cup
and shuffle on down the line
for no matter who you are
your welcome at supper time.
